91վ prepares to turn city blue and gold for Homecoming Week
Events set for 2018 Homecoming celebration
ALBANY, Ga. – Preparations are well underway as 91վ (ASU) and the city of Albany gear up for the 2018 ASU Homecoming celebration held Oct. 14 – 20. This year’s theme, “The Greatest Of All Time,” mixes old and new traditions to celebrate the institution’s excellence.
Students, alumni, community members and supporters will enjoy a variety of festive activities. Topping the lineup of events is the Gospel Explosion on Sunday, Oct. 14 in the Billy C. Black Auditorium (East) from 6 – 8 p.m.
The official Homecoming kick-off will begin at noon, Monday, Oct. 15, at the ASU Amphitheater (East). The week continues with the Homecoming Street Festival on Wednesday, Oct. 17 in downtown Albany. Get ready for a night of fun, food, and music from 5 – 9 p.m. beginning at the 100 block of Pine Avenue and N. Front Street.
The coronation of the 2018-2019 Miss 91վ, Janese Bibbs, and Mr. 91վ, Joshua Era, will be held at 7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 18 in HPER Gymnasium (East). This event is free and open to the public.
Homecoming Convocation is scheduled for 10 a.m., Friday, Oct. 19, in the HPER Gymnasium. The inaugural Blue & Gold Scholarship Gala will be held Friday evening, beginning at 7:30 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn in downtown Albany. Tickets are $150 per person and can be purchased on the ASU Foundation website.
The weeklong Homecoming celebration continues on Saturday, Oct. 20, with the Homecoming Parade at 9 a.m. along Pine Avenue. The Homecoming Block Party will follow at noon on the ASU campus (East). Fans will then head to the 91վ Coliseum (East) where the Golden Rams football team will take on the Clark Atlanta University Panthers at 2 p.m.
